Op-Doc
Imagine, you're riding in the car with three of your other friends. Blasting music, having a fun time, with no care in the world. But then, the driver turns the music down at a red light because there's a man in the car next to you screaming to turn your music down. You brush it off and continue on with your day. Then, your friend gets out of the car and, BAM, you hear a gun shot. This happened to a young black man named Jordan Davis, but Jordan, was the one who got shot. Jordan didn't survive the gunshot. A white man named Michael Dunn was the one who shot him.
His father believes he was shot because of the color of his skin. Could you imagine, getting shot, unarmed, because of your skin color? Watching this op-doc made me sad but also infuriated. Jordan was just a kid who got murdered because of the music being too loud. It's ridiculous, but it makes you realize, that black people in our society live a very different life than white people. They have to be more cautious with doing basic things, like riding in the car.
this is so sad but true, always being aware of your surroundings, making sure to put your best foot forward in a world automatically set against you.
